On May 3, 2019, the DME awarded $50,000 to Richard Wright PCS for a Safe Passage Technical Assistance Partnership. The purpose of the partnership is to support the development of Safe Passage implementation plans for SY2019-20 that reflect national best practices and local experiences in priority Safe Passage Areas. The Richard Wright PCS Man the Block Safe Passage Program continues to exemplify strong leadership and commitment to supporting the safety of students in the District. The DME is excited to have strong Safe Passage partners as we work to collectively address this important challenge.

The DME and Richard Wright PCS have selected the following Safe Passage Priority Areas for this partnership:

• Congress Heights
• Anacostia
• Good Hope Rd. SE Corridor

During the summer months, Richard Wright PCS leaders will engage in outreach and planning with community stakeholders to develop Safe Passage implementation plans. The plans will be tailored to meet the needs of each identified Safe Passage Priority Area.
